Ellen was born in Taiwan and worked in the financial services industry for more than a decade. She discovered her passion for painting during her junior high school years, when she got her first lessons. But ultimately she decided to attend business school. There was a period when she loved making paper clay sculpture in her leisure time and successfully sold multiple artworks.

In the year 2008, she relocated to The Netherlands. Inspired by the local culture, her artistic drive was sparked. She took and takes still master class at Academy of Fine Arts and was invited to join the teacher team in 2020. She likes to use the same painting techniques as the European Old Master painters of the 17th and 18th century. Atmosphere, realism and subtlety take an important place in the painting.

Art is all around us. She loves being out in nature, attending exhibitions and learns from different aspects. These experiences enrich her in her paintings and daily life.
